STRUCTURE AND EXTERNALS
Our garden rooms are designed for year round use. They are raised slightly off the ground on steel legs which are sunk into the ground and encased in concrete, this allows the whole structure to breathe while preventing any premature decay and providing a good, solid base which will last. Our garden rooms come as standard with fully insulated floors, walls and ceilings with a "Warm Roof" design covered with a EPDM rubber membrane, you also get double glazing and an electrical supply including a suitably sized electric radiator as standard.
The main structure is constructed with 4x2" timber as a minimum, the roof structure is constructed with 5x2" timber which is firmly secured to the main structure with truss clips. The whole structure is then over boarded and wrapped with a breathable waterproof membrane, the structure is then lathed out both vertically and horizontally which gives a 50mm breathing zone for the cladding and main structure to breathe. The cladding is then applied using stainless steel fixings. With a choice of treated homegrown Scandinavian Redwood, Composite, Siberian Larch, Western Red Cedar or Oak cladding we can source cladding to suit your style.
INTERNALS
Internally you can expect your garden room to be fully plaster boarded and decorated in plain white, with a quality laminated flooring and rounded skirting board as standard. All internal wood work is also painted in a suitable white gloss/satin finish as standard. The options are truly endless and our studios can be fully designed and constructed to your requirements. As previously mentioned our bespoke garden rooms come with their own electrical consumer unit which supplies power to; 2x double sockets (one with USB outlets), 1x external double socket, 6x downlights, 2x external wall lights and a suitably sized electric panel heater. This is our standard electrical offering and if you require more or less outlets this can all be designed along side your needs. As standard we use white moulded plastic electrical accessories but upgrading to metallic finishes can arranged.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
One thing that most garden room companies fail to mention is the main electrical feed, not us, Since no two main electrical connections are the same we survey all electrical connections during the preliminary on-site visit and provide the cost for connection with the final quotation. This way you know exactly how much you're paying and don't have the hassles or hidden costs some other companies might cause. The main electrical connection must be completed by a qualified, competent electrician and will be connected to your property's main supply installed in armoured cable that is suitably sized and designed by our electrical contractor. Our electrical contractor will then connect both ends and install an earth electrode for the garden room. Our garden rooms meet current BS7671 18th edition wiring regulations and are fully certified, this way you can sleep easy knowing your garden room is in a safe condition having been installed by qualified, competent contractors.
USAGE
Not only do our garden rooms & studios make for great places to sit down, relax and enjoy the sounds of nature from the comfort of your own back garden they make for ideal work spaces, especially in the current climate. You can easily separate your work from your home by using your garden room as a premium office space and set a clear boundary from work life and home life, not to mention the minimal commute time from your home to work. Working from home also has environmental benefits as the lack of commute helps reduce your carbon footprint. Please note that if you intend on setting up a place of works where members of the public will come and go (Barbers, Hairdressers, Beauty Salons etc.) or you have multiple employees from different households working from your garden room / studio then planning permission and building control will apply.
